Thank you for reading. I hope you feel a bit less alone.
Along with my equally talented sister and a cadre of other people, I’ve made a lot of cool stuff. (Learn about our history with the radio interview; the print interview). I like to throw parties. I like to use letter stickers to label things that will stand still. I’m a francophile because it satisfies my desire to be rejected.
I lead experimental writing sessions in the model of the Writing Society Brooklyn and the Oulipo, called Society for Potential Literature. I share our work here.
I have taught English in public high schools for 15 years, and also at the college level for a bit. I’ve also worked in elementary and preschool settings, and with kids who have been in foster care.
I have written about mental health (anxiety and panic in particular) at Anxiety Sideshow.
My work has appeared in Big Lucks, Word Riot, 8 1/2 x 11, Knee Jerk Magazine (twice), the Kansas City Star, Fugue, and at presentmagazine.com and ereview.org.
I have books available:
You may contact me at schurmane@yahoo.com or on Facebook, because that’s the age I am, and the level of social media I can handle.

Serendipidy led me to your blog. After reading Janet Sunderland’s blog today, I glanced right at a list and saw what I think is a name from the past at GHTC and EFM. If you are the one, “Hello, good to read you.” If this is not my fomer (sometimes) classmate from EFM, sorry to intrude. Jim Fox
Yep, it’s me, Jim. Good to hear from you. I’ll be an EFM senior next year! Hope you’re doing well.
Hi, thanks for the blog link. I could absolutly hear your voice in your Yibbet Turman intro. Delightful! Look for ward to the reads.
be Well

Hi Elizabeth. I just saw the news about the arts festival at Myers Mansion over on the Whispering Prairie Press website. I think what you are doing is wonderful. Please let me know if you need any help. xo Dana
